Explore this stunning quality of God's grace It never ends!

In this revision of a foundational work, John Piper reveals how grace is not only God's undeserved gift to us in the past, but also God's power to make good happen for us today, tomorrow, and forever.

True life for the follower of Jesus really is a moment-by-moment trust that God is dependable and fulfills his promises. This is living by faith in future grace, which provides God's mercy, provision, and wisdom - everything we need - to accomplish his good plans for us.

In Future Grace, chapter by chapter - one for each day of the month - Piper reveals how cherishing the promises of God helps break the power of persistent sin issues like anxiety, despondency, greed, lust, bitterness, impatience, pride, misplaced shame, and more.

Ultimate joy, peace, and hope in life and death are found in a confident, continual awareness of the reality of future grace.

Future Grace The Purifying Power of the Promises of God Revised Edition (Audible Audio Edition) John Piper Joe Ochman Random House Audio Books

I am loving this book. I've read several of Piper's books, but I think this might be my favorite. He explains what Future Grace is and how it should be the basis of our obedience and faith, as opposed to the "debt ethic" attitude, as if we owe God our good behavior because we are grateful. He also puts is some application chapters to help us understand how to overcome some thought patterns/sins that are a result of not recognized or remember future grace. I highly recommend this book.

Future Grace The Purifying Power of the Promises of God Revised Edition (Audible Audio Edition) John Piper Joe Ochman Random House Audio Books Reviews

This is the second time reading this book and frankly I enjoyed even better this time. Piper skillfully diagnoses the frailty of the human heart full of sin and points the way to the remedy faith in the future grace of Christ. He also helps the reader to see that in the end if we want to glorify God we must seek our own happiness in being satisfied with all that God is for us in Christ Jesus. This book should be required reading for all who genuinely want to learn to love God.
This is my "if stranded on a deserted island" book. It changed my life the first time I read it.
Powerful and amazing read. We are going through this at our church. The seller was amazaing. John Piper is my fave. author.
I recommend this book to every woman that I lead or counsel. Such a great reminder for Christians to cling to Gods promises. I worked through this reading a chapter or so a day as a devotional and loved it!
"The only debt that grace creates is the "debt" of relying on more grace for all that God calls us to be and do." Broken up into 31 chapters with the idea of being used as larger than normal devotional, a chapter for each day of the month, this quote above explains why it is worth reading devotionally or "normally". We who claim to be Christians give lip service to grace and verses like John 155, but think, speak and live in many ways contrary to these truths. This book is a call to what every true believer knows and lives, that without Jesus and His grace, we are toast. "Without Me, you can do nothing!" It is this grace that the world and every other religion finds so repulsive, so contrary to their every human fiber. And yet this book is written because, again, even His followers fail to grasp all of the implications, joys, wonders and freedoms of such grace. As He died for its obtaining, this is a great rebuke. For those of us ready for more, this book is almost Tozerish in its writing and heart. I highly recommend this book.
I originally approached John Piper's books with great caution. Can anyone with such popularity be writing anything but what "tickles the ears" of his readers? I checked every Scripture reference--was it in keeping with the context? I read slowly and thoughtfully. He is great!! Now, mind you, I don't agree with everything he says. There are areas where he is not quite on target. But he is an author I heartily recommend to my friends. And this book is indeed the best one of his that I've read. It is challenging. I am on my second read-through. But most importantly, I don't just recommend this book to my friends--I buy it for them. I have given copies of this book to 3 friends and plan to give more to others as the opportunity presents itself. Please read this book!!
To conquer sin, we must put our trust in future grace and not just act in gratitude for what Christ has done for us. We must act on the promises of God both current and future. I don't know if I put as clean of distinction on it as Piper does, but he definitely raises some issues we must consider. His emphasis on works arising out of faith and that works is the proof of our faith (not the origins of our faith) is good. Future Grace helps to endure suffering joyfully for the joy set before us.

This book took me a long time to get through and I need to go through it again. In the last chapter he shows how the concepts of Future Grace and Desiring God and the theology of Jonathan Edwards dovetail together. This book is deep and there is much to meditate on and to be encouraged by. It seems to wander a bit, but once one sees the whole picture he is painting, one can understand the argument better. This book leads the reader gently into some very profound Reformed truths. This is another Piper book I will put aside and read again.
